Fire Station 41 South Lot Improvements

The Coastside Fire Protection District’s Station 41 South Lot Improvements Project will construct a drought-tolerant, fire-safe interpretive garden on the vacant unimproved south lot of Station 41 along Coronado Street between Obispo Avenue and Avenue Alhambra. The garden will consist of native, drought-tolerant plants traversed by a meandering decomposed granite path with fire-safe educational signs, landing areas, and a resting bench.

 

The project also may include the installation of a sidewalk around the south and east sides of the fire station property and a crosswalk across Obispo Avenue at Coronado Street. The sidewalk and crosswalk are part of the Connect the Coastside and Safe Routes to School plans for the area.

Project Status (revised 5/17/2024)

The draft final project design is now complete. The District is applying for the necessary permits from the County of San Mateo and seeking additional funding for the sidewalk and crosswalk improvements. Pending timely permit approval and additional funding acquisition, the project could be advertised for construction bids in Summer/Fall 2024 and if bids are favorable be constructed in Fall/Winter 2024.
